Curriculum
Our Vision
At Anker Valley Primary Academy we intend that all pupils, regardless of background or individual circumstances, will develop the knowledge, skills and character needed to flourish in life through memorable and meaningful experiences, through well planned, differentiated, creative planning and high quality inclusive teaching.
Our broad and balanced curriculum follows the National Curriculum and is enriched with a wide range of subjects and enrichment opportunities including Forest School, specialist teaching, bespoke parental engagement events, visits, visitors and extra-curricular activities. We believe they should have concrete learning experiences in every subject to help build foundations of knowledge, life-experience and cultural capital.
We aim to ‘inspire all to excellence’ through the provision of:
- A rich, broad and balanced curriculum presented in an inspiring and imaginative manner, enriched through a wide range of memorable learning experiences.
- A character education that is at the heart of all that we do, nurturing and fostering the values our pupils need to thrive as individuals, ready for the next stage of their education.
Our specialist teaching provision includes:
A Forest School leader who plans and delivers regular Forest School sessions for all pupils.
A professional musician from the ‘Rock It!’ music company, who delivers weekly sessions to all of our pupils and an optional after school club. In their music lessons, children learn to appreciate, compose and enjoy music as they become a Caribbean steel band or a Keyboard based pop band!
At Anker Valley Primary Academy we value the breadth and enrichment within our curriculum and the experiences it provides to our children. We feel even more than ever, these added experiences including outdoor learning and embracing and caring for the environment are so important to aid pupil wellbeing. We are committed to providing exemplary teaching and learning and through our work and play, we encourage everyone to strive for excellence.
Our Curriculum Brief outlines the aims, opportunities and outcomes that are delivered through our curriculum.
