Alien Crash Landing!
It has been great to be back in school and to see how determined and ready all of Herons have returned after their half term break!
Our week kick started with an exciting investigation of a spaceship landing on our school field! The children have been busy learning about newspaper reports as they will be soon writing their very own to report this event. The children have been able to identify features of a newspaper report, such as a headline, by-line, photo and caption.
In Maths, the children have been learning all about subtraction by counting back on a number line and by finding the difference between two numbers. Even though this has been challenging the children have enjoyed using practical objects to support their learning.
In our wider curriculum, the children have started to practice skills ready for playing games of dodgeball, they have reflected on what their family means to them and have enjoyed exploring the medium of watercolours.
Next week we will be sending the children’s English and Maths books home as part of Family Book Look week. We can’t wait for you to see how much progress Herons have been making!
